Twin Pandas Delight Visitors in Xi’an Snow as 2026 Begins

Five-year-old giant panda twins Qinxiu and Qinmei have become winter stars at Xi'an's Qinling Wildlife Park, captivating visitors with their playful antics in fresh snowfall this week. The siblings demonstrated remarkable energy as they chased each other through powder, tumbled down slopes, and even showed surprising coordination while batting a ball between them – drawing comparisons to professional football players.

Park caretakers report the twins have entered an especially active developmental phase this winter, with their snow-based gymnastics offering new insights into panda behavior adaptation. When exhausted from play, the pair demonstrated their discerning palates by selectively choosing tender bamboo shoots from specially prepared winter stocks.

This joyful display comes as China's wildlife conservation programs enter their 2026 implementation phase, with Shaanxi Province's panda habitats playing a key role in genetic diversity preservation efforts. The Qinling Mountains region, where these twins were born, remains crucial to maintaining sustainable panda populations across the Chinese mainland.
