Shanghai Legoland Resort is putting the finishing touches on its sprawling 318,000-square-meter campus ahead of its highly anticipated summer opening. The park, crafted from over 85 million Lego bricks and featuring nearly 2,900 models, promises to blend artistry, technology, and hands-on play for families and Lego enthusiasts.
A Journey Through Brick-Built China
At the heart of the park lies the indoor "Miniature World," where visitors can marvel at Shanghai's skyline and iconic Chinese landmarks recreated in meticulous detail. Motorized Lego cars, ships, and a magnetic levitation train animate scenes of urban life, while interactive displays allow guests to illuminate Lego fireworks over a Bund-inspired plaza. A playful Lego "grandpa" practicing tai chi adds local charm to the exhibit.
Yangtze River Cruise in Lego Form
Outdoor attractions include a themed river cruise showcasing brick-built cities along the Yangtze River, from Chongqing to Wuhan and Nanjing, culminating in a Shanghai finale. Each stop highlights architectural and cultural elements unique to China's urban heritage, all rendered in colorful Lego bricks.
Themed Zones for Every Adventurer
The resort’s zones offer distinct experiences: the Lego Monkey Kid Adventure area features hero Qi Xiaotian and Chef Zhu models, while Lego Ninjago incorporates cherry blossoms and lantern motifs. Lego City boasts a gleaming Mr. Gold mini-figure at its center, symbolizing its metropolitan spirit.
With 75 rides and attractions, Shanghai Legoland aims to become a landmark for creative play and cross-generational exploration in the Chinese mainland.
