Harbin’s 2025 Ice and Snow Competitions Showcase Global Art and Unity

Harbin, known as China’s “Ice City,” came alive on January 2, 2025, as the 36th Harbin International Ice Sculpture Competition and the 27th Harbin International Snow Sculpture Competition commenced at the famed Harbin Ice and Snow World. The grand opening marked a celebration of artistry and international collaboration, attracting talented sculptors from around the globe.

This year, the competitions welcomed 30 ice sculpture teams from 12 countries and 25 snow sculpture teams from 10 countries. Artists braved the winter chill to transform massive blocks of ice and snow into breathtaking works of art, reflecting both modern creativity and traditional craftsmanship.

Participants showcased a diverse array of sculptures, from intricate designs to monumental installations, each telling a unique story. The event not only highlighted the artists’ skills but also fostered cultural exchange, uniting people through the universal language of art.

“Harbin’s ice and snow festivals have always been a beacon for artists worldwide,” said Li Ming, director of the event’s organizing committee. “We are proud to provide a platform where creativity knows no borders.”

Visitors to Harbin Ice and Snow World were treated to a dazzling display of illuminated sculptures, turning the park into a winter wonderland. The competitions reinforced Harbin’s reputation as a global hub for ice and snow art, celebrating the city’s unique identity and enduring cultural legacy.
