In the halls of the Changle County Public Security Bureau in Weifang City, east China’s Shandong Province, a new kind of police officer is making waves—on four very short legs. Fuzai, a 6-month-old corgi, has become China’s first corgi police dog, combining his endearing looks with impressive skills to serve his community.
Despite his small stature, Fuzai is trained in essential police duties such as sitting, lying down, standing at attention, and most notably, searching for gas tanks and bags. He stands out among the 12 police dogs at the bureau, not just for his breed but for his dedication and proficiency in the field.
These canine officers play a vital role in various law enforcement activities, including detecting criminal activity, securing major events, and conducting daily patrols. Fuzai’s presence has added a unique charm to the team, drawing attention from both colleagues and the public.
Officer Li Ming, Fuzai’s handler, remarks, “Fuzai may be small, but his abilities are on par with his larger counterparts. His keen sense of smell and agility make him an asset to our unit.”
Fuzai’s success challenges traditional notions about police dog breeds, showcasing that ability and determination can come in all shapes and sizes. His story has become a source of inspiration, highlighting the innovative approaches being taken in law enforcement across China.
