In a spirited celebration of cultural exchange, international students from 14 countries gathered at Nanjing Agricultural University to participate in a traditional Chinese dragon dance. Students from France, Bangladesh, Kenya, Colombia, and other nations joined their Chinese counterparts in this vibrant event, heralding the upcoming Year of the Loong.
Under the expert guidance of experienced coaches, the university’s gymnasium transformed into a hub of unity and excitement. The international students donned colorful attire and took hold of the ornate dragon costumes, learning the rhythmic movements and coordination required for the dance.
“This experience has been incredible,” said Maria Gonzalez from Colombia. “Participating in the dragon dance has allowed me to immerse myself in Chinese culture and connect with students from around the world.”
The dragon dance, a centuries-old tradition in China, symbolizes good fortune and prosperity. For many of the participants, it was their first time engaging in this iconic cultural practice.
Ahmed Khan from Bangladesh shared, “Being part of this event has broadened my understanding of Chinese traditions. It’s wonderful to see how dance can bring people together, regardless of where they’re from.”
The event not only celebrated the rich heritage of the host country but also fostered a sense of global community among the students. As the Year of the Loong approaches, the dragon dance at Nanjing Agricultural University stands as a testament to the unifying power of cultural exchange.
