China’s 2025 Space Milestones: 92 Launches, Quantum Leaps, and Global Tech Leadership

Record-Breaking Year for Chinese Space Program

China completed 92 space launches in 2025, including 50 commercial missions, according to the National Bureau of Statistics' newly released communiqué. The year saw landmark achievements like the Zhuque-3 and Long March-12A reusable rockets' successful maiden flights, along with the Tianwen-2 probe's asteroid sample-return mission.

Military and Quantum Breakthroughs

The Fujian aircraft carrier, China's first domestically designed carrier with electromagnetic catapults, entered service last year. Meanwhile, the 'Zuchongzhi-3' superconducting quantum computer prototype and a sustained 100-million-degree plasma record in nuclear fusion research positioned China at the forefront of frontier technologies.

AI and R&D Investment Surge

China's DeepSeek large language model gained international recognition in 2025, while the country conducted its first invasive brain-computer interface clinical trial. Research spending reached 3.93 trillion yuan ($569 billion), with 972,000 invention patents granted – clear indicators of accelerating innovation.
