China Successfully Launches Tianping-3 Satellite for Advanced Space Research

China marked another milestone in its ambitious space program on Tuesday with the successful launch of the Tianping-3 satellite from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center in north China’s Shanxi Province. The satellite was carried into orbit at 8:10 a.m. Beijing Time by a Long March-6 carrier rocket, the nation’s reliable workhorse for such missions.

The Tianping-3 satellite is poised to play a crucial role in enhancing ground radar equipment calibration and radar cross-section measurements. Its advanced capabilities will also support imaging tests for ground optical equipment, contributing to more precise and accurate data collection for various applications.

Beyond radar calibration, Tianping-3 will facilitate detection and monitoring of the low-orbit space environment. This includes providing valuable services for atmospheric space environment surveys and aiding in the correction of orbit prediction models.
