China’s AI Satellite Successfully Completes In-Orbit Large Model Tests

In a significant leap for space technology and artificial intelligence, ADA Space, a Chinese AI satellite internet technology company, announced on Sunday that its recently launched satellite has successfully completed in-orbit tests of AI large-model technology.

Between September 25 and October 5, the satellite conducted 13 tests of its AI large model, tackling multiple inference questions under varying conditions. These tests validated the space adaptability of the AI large model, the reliability of the computing satellite platform, and the effective computing power of high-performance payloads during space operation, according to the company.

The satellite is set to advance to the next phase, which involves generating 3D remote-sensing data using AI while in orbit. Launched on September 24 aboard a Smart Dragon-3 carrier rocket from the waters near Haiyang city in east China’s Shandong Province, the satellite represents a fusion of cutting-edge AI technology with space exploration.
