Thousands of university students from across China have gathered in Dingzhou City, Hebei Province, to showcase their innovations at the opening ceremony of the 2024 China University Aircraft Design Competition held on Sunday.
Established by the Chinese Society of Aeronautics and Astronautics, the competition runs until October 4 and aims to ignite passion for aviation science and technology among university students. It provides a platform for young innovators to enhance their independent innovation and engineering practice skills, fostering the next generation of talent for China’s aviation and national defense industries.
Over 2,000 contestants representing more than 100 universities and research institutes are participating in this year’s event. Each team is tasked with designing and building their aircraft from the ground up. Their creations will undergo scaled flight verifications to test their performance, pushing the boundaries of aeronautical engineering.
The atmosphere at the opening ceremony was electric, with a spectacular air show that captivated attendees and set the tone for the days ahead.
