China Surpasses 4 Million 5G Base Stations, Aiming for Deeper Network Integration

China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) announced that the total number of 5G base stations across the country reached 4.04 million by the end of August. This impressive figure accounts for 32.1 percent of all mobile base stations in China, marking a significant milestone in the nation’s technological advancement.

The number of 5G mobile phone users has also seen substantial growth, reaching 966 million and comprising 54.3 percent of total mobile phone users. This rapid adoption reflects China’s commitment to expanding high-speed internet coverage to every city, bringing 5G connectivity to every rural town, and ensuring broadband access in every village.

As the user base expands and applications diversify, 5G technology is increasingly woven into the fabric of social life. This deepening integration is empowering the digital transformation of the economy, fostering innovation, and driving new opportunities across various sectors.

An official from the MIIT emphasized that China will adhere to the principle of moderate advancement. The country plans to continue strengthening its network infrastructure and expanding the scale of 5G applications. The goal is to enhance the 5G network to better serve society and improve the daily lives of the public.
