U.S. Court Rules Google Maintains Illegal Monopoly Over Search Market

A landmark ruling by U.S. District Judge Amit Mehta on Monday declared that Google has violated antitrust laws by establishing and maintaining an illegal monopoly over the online search market. This decision marks the first significant victory for federal authorities in their efforts to challenge the dominance of Big Tech companies.

Judge Mehta concluded that Google, which controls approximately 90% of the online search market and 95% on smartphones, spent billions of dollars to become the world’s default search engine, thus stifling competition. \
