China’s New Trade Corridor Hits Record 500,000 TEUs Transported in 2024

As of August 2, 2024, China’s New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor has transported more than 500,000 twenty-foot equivalent unit (TEU) containers via rail-sea intermodal transportation this year. This marks the highest level for the same period in all years, according to China Railway Nanning Bureau Group Co., Ltd.

Located in the hinterlands of China’s western regions, the trade corridor serves as a vital link connecting the Silk Road Economic Belt from the north, the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road from the south, and the Yangtze River Economic Belt. Since the overall plan was launched five years ago, the corridor has facilitated the transportation of over 3.1 million TEUs, playing a significant role in boosting regional economic integration and trade efficiency.

The corridor’s success underscores China’s commitment to enhancing connectivity and fostering economic growth across Asia. By streamlining logistics and reducing transportation times, it offers new opportunities for businesses and investors seeking to engage with markets throughout the continent.
