China Unveils 3-Year Plan to Standardize Traditional Chinese Medicine, Integrate AI

China has launched a comprehensive three-year plan to further standardize Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), aiming to bridge the gap between ancient healing practices and modern medical advancements. Announced on Wednesday, the initiative is spearheaded by the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine (NATCM) and is set to revolutionize the TCM industry.

At the core of the plan is the effort to enhance and upgrade the existing system of TCM standards, which currently encompasses over 3,000 items. By refining these standards, the NATCM aims to improve the safety, efficacy, and consistency of TCM treatments, ensuring they meet modern healthcare expectations.

Another pivotal aspect of the initiative is the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into TCM practices. By leveraging AI technology, Chinese researchers aspire to develop advanced diagnostic tools and personalized treatment plans, bringing a new level of precision and efficiency to TCM.

China is also committed to fostering international cooperation in TCM research and development. By sharing knowledge and expertise globally, China hopes to position TCM as a viable complementary or alternative therapy in the international healthcare market.

“Standardization is key to the future development of TCM,” an NATCM official told reporters. “While different TCM practitioners may have varying approaches, they share significant similarities that can be unified through standardized practices.”

This ambitious plan reflects China’s dedication to preserving its rich cultural heritage while embracing innovation, aiming to elevate Traditional Chinese Medicine to new heights both domestically and internationally.
