Shanghai, China – China Eastern Airlines (CEA) welcomed its seventh C919 passenger aircraft on Monday, marking another milestone in the development of China’s homegrown aviation industry.
The latest C919, coded B-919H, was delivered by the Commercial Aircraft Corp of China (COMAC) and arrived at Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport after a short flight from Shanghai Pudong International Airport. This delivery signifies the third C919 aircraft received by CEA this year, further expanding its fleet of domestically developed passenger planes.
The C919 aircraft are actively serving four major routes from Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport: Chengdu Tianfu International Airport in Sichuan Province, Beijing Daxing International Airport, Xi’an Xianyang International Airport in Shaanxi Province, and Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport in Guangdong Province. These routes enhance connectivity between Shanghai and key cities across China, catering to the growing demand for air travel.
Since its maiden commercial flight on May 28, 2023, the C919 has made significant strides. As of July 28, the fleet has conducted 3,031 commercial flights, transporting nearly 405,000 passengers. The successful operation of the C919 demonstrates China’s advancements in aerospace technology and its commitment to competing in the global aviation market.
The continued expansion of the C919 fleet not only boosts China Eastern Airlines’ capacity but also underscores the nation’s dedication to promoting its domestically produced aircraft on the international stage. The airline’s integration of the C919 into its services reflects a strategic move to embrace innovation and support the growth of China’s aviation industry.
