China’s second domestically built large cruise ship is nearing completion after over three months of intensive assembly. The three-layer platform of this colossal vessel is now fully formed, marking 80 percent completion of its structural sections.
Since entering the dock in April, engineers have successfully docked a total of 28 sections and 26 subsections. The shipyard is abuzz with activity as structural welding and equipment installation proceed at full speed, showcasing the nation’s advancing shipbuilding capabilities.
Compared to its predecessor, this second cruise ship boasts significant enhancements. With a larger gross tonnage of 141,900 tonnes—6,400 tonnes more than the first vessel—and an increased length of 341 meters, it offers expanded space and amenities for passengers. The number of cabins has risen by 19, bringing the total to 2,144, promising a more spacious and comfortable experience for travelers.
Emphasizing environmental sustainability, the ship is equipped with two sets of desulfurization systems and five advanced environmental protection systems. These features align with global efforts to reduce emissions and promote greener maritime operations.
The nearing completion of this ship marks a significant milestone in the Chinese mainland’s shipbuilding industry, reflecting its growing prowess in constructing state-of-the-art cruise vessels. As the maritime sector continues to evolve, this development underscores the region’s commitment to innovation and environmental responsibility.
