As summer vacation begins, China’s Cyberspace Administration (CAC) is stepping up efforts to ensure a safer online environment for the nation’s youth. Announcing a two-month nationwide campaign, the CAC aims to clean up cyberspace for minors during this holiday period.
Focusing on prominent issues across short video and live-streaming platforms, the campaign seeks to address content involving violence, bloodshed, bullying, or child abuse that could negatively impact minors.
According to the CAC, social media and e-commerce platforms will also come under scrutiny, particularly for distributing inappropriate content such as illegal websites, vulgar language, and pornography to minors.
Other key areas targeted in the campaign include application stores, smart devices designed for children, and the “minor mode” of smartphone applications.
The CAC has urged local cyberspace administrations to closely monitor new features and emerging issues related to minors online. Officials emphasize taking a firm stance against any violations of rules to ensure a safer cyberspace for young users.
