Young Experts Describe China’s Modernization as ‘Like Living in 2050’

In a recent panel discussion hosted by CGTN’s Enoch Wong, young political experts explored China’s rapid modernization and technological advancements.

Alland Dharmawan, who serves at the Indonesian President Advisory Council, shared his reflections on his four-year stay and recent visits to the city of Xiamen. “Every time I return, I see something new. The innovation is continuous,” he remarked. Dharmawan highlighted the convenience of palm-payment technology, expressing that life in China feels “like living in 2050.”

Carolina Fabara, a senior attorney and PhD candidate from Ecuador, echoed these sentiments. She praised China’s burgeoning digital economy and its efforts toward sustainability. “China’s integration of technology and environmental consciousness sets a powerful example for other nations,” Fabara noted. She emphasized how these advancements not only improve daily life but also contribute to global goals of sustainable development.

Both panelists underscored the potential for other countries to learn from China’s experience. They pointed out that China’s blend of modernization with environmental sustainability offers a roadmap for future development worldwide. The discussion shed light on how technological progress, when paired with a focus on sustainability, can create a harmonious path forward.
