According to the latest report on the development of Digital China released by the National Data Administration, the value-added output of core industries in the digital economy reached 10 percent of China’s total gross domestic product in 2023. The intelligent manufacturing equipment industry alone has surpassed a value of 3.2 trillion yuan (approximately $450 billion). For three consecutive years, China has pursued smart manufacturing pilot projects, resulting in the construction of 421 national-level demonstration factories and over 10,000 provincial-level digital workshops and smart factories.
Advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence have been implemented in more than 90 percent of these demonstration plants. The widespread adoption of 5G technology has revolutionized sectors like quality inspection and mining production, enhancing efficiency and productivity. The Industrial Internet now spans all major industries, boasting over 200 established application examples that showcase its transformative potential.

The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security estimates that to meet the needs of China’s expanding digital economy, a gap of approximately 25 million to 30 million digitalization professionals must be filled.
