China’s Shenzhou-18 taikonauts have successfully completed their second spacewalk, marking another significant milestone in the nation’s ambitious space exploration endeavors. The extravehicular activity (EVA), which lasted approximately 6.5 hours, concluded at 10:51 p.m. Beijing Time on Wednesday, as reported by the China Manned Space Agency.
During the spacewalk, taikonauts Ye Guangfu and Li Cong carried out multiple tasks outside the orbiting space station, while Li Guangsu remained inside to support the operation. This EVA marks the 16th conducted by Chinese astronauts during the application and development phase of the China Space Station (CSS).
The successful completion of the second spacewalk by the Shenzhou-18 crew demonstrates China’s growing capabilities in human spaceflight and contributes to the ongoing construction and maintenance of the CSS. The taikonauts’ tasks during the EVA included equipment installation, maintenance, and experiments essential for the station’s long-term operation.
China’s advancements in space technology continue to draw global attention, as the country seeks to expand its presence in space exploration and scientific research. The CSS is intended to serve as a platform for international cooperation and experimentation in microgravity.
The Shenzhou-18 mission is part of a series of planned missions aimed at completing and operating the CSS. The successful spacewalks not only showcase the taikonauts’ skills and the reliability of China’s space technology but also contribute valuable experience for future deep-space exploration missions.
