China’s state-owned energy conglomerate, CHN Energy Investment Group, has announced a significant milestone in its pursuit of cleaner energy sources. As of the end of June, CHN Energy’s total new energy installed capacity has reached an impressive 100 million kilowatts, marking a substantial shift towards sustainable power generation.
The company’s achievements in wind and solar power are particularly noteworthy. The installed capacity of wind power has soared to 62.28 million kilowatts, securing CHN Energy’s position as the global leader in wind energy scale. Meanwhile, the installed capacity of photovoltaics has surged to 42.13 million kilowatts, reflecting rapid growth in solar energy utilization.
This transition represents a remarkable increase in the share of new energy within CHN Energy’s total installed capacity, rising from 21.6 percent in 2021 to 31.4 percent by the end of June this year. The company’s commitment to expanding its renewable energy portfolio aligns with China’s national goals to peak carbon emissions before 2030 and achieve carbon neutrality by 2060.
CHN Energy’s advancements not only contribute to reducing carbon footprints but also set a precedent for other energy companies in Asia and around the world. The focus on green and low-carbon energy underscores a broader movement towards sustainable development and environmental responsibility in the global energy sector.
