China’s Most Powerful Liquid-Propellant Engine Passes Ignition Test

In a significant stride for China’s aerospace ambitions, the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC) has announced the successful ignition test of the country’s most powerful liquid-propellant engine. This groundbreaking achievement marks a pivotal moment in China’s liquid propulsion development.

The test involved the first-ever simultaneous ignition of four large-thrust liquid oxygen (LOX) kerosene engines. Developed by CASC, each engine in the 130-tonne class boasts a total combined thrust of over 500 tonnes. These engines surpass the capabilities of the currently operational 120-tonne class LOX kerosene engines, offering greater thrust, improved performance, and a more compact structure.
