Huawei Pura 70 Ultra Debuts with Innovative Pop-Out Main Camera

Huawei has once again pushed the boundaries of smartphone innovation with the release of its latest flagship, the Pura 70 Ultra, featuring a revolutionary pop-out main camera that mimics professional cameras.

Unlike the conventional pop-up selfie cameras seen in previous devices, the Pura 70 Ultra’s main rear camera extends outward when in use, allowing for enhanced photographic capabilities without compromising the phone’s sleek profile.

The Shenzhen-based technology giant surprised enthusiasts and industry experts by launching the Pura 70 series without any press releases, much like its unexpected release of the Mate 60 that previously stirred reactions among U.S. officials.

Tech media and enthusiasts have been abuzz, sharing videos and reviews highlighting the Pura 70 Ultra’s unique design. The innovative pop-out mechanism enables Huawei to incorporate a powerful camera system into a thin smartphone, bridging the gap between mobile photography and professional-grade equipment.

Initial tests indicate that the Pura 70 Ultra delivers impressive performance, including download speeds comparable to 5G networks, despite the absence of a 5G icon on the display. The device’s efficient thermal management has also been praised by reviewers who noted that it remains cooler during intensive use compared to previous models like the Mate 60.

The Pro and Ultra versions of the Pura 70 were made available on Thursday and sold out within minutes on Huawei’s official online store. The Plus and base versions are slated for release on April 22. The Pura 70 series offers four variants—70, 70 Plus, 70 Pro, and 70 Ultra—with prices starting at 5,499 yuan (approximately $760).

During a recent forum in Shenzhen, Huawei’s acting chairman, Eric Xu, announced plans to launch the Mate 70 smartphone later this year. The company aims to utilize a ‘pure’ version of its HarmonyOS operating system, following U.S. sanctions that have restricted Huawei’s access to American technologies such as Google’s Android.

Huawei is actively engaging with major app developers to expand the HarmonyOS ecosystem, working to ensure that popular applications are available on its platform and providing users with a seamless experience.

The introduction of the Pura 70 Ultra underscores Huawei’s commitment to innovation and resilience in the face of global challenges, offering consumers advanced technology and design in the ever-competitive smartphone market.
