A Technological Twist to Qingming Festival Traditions

In the lead-up to this year’s Qingming Festival on April 4, various commemorative activities were held across the country. In southwest China’s Chongqing Municipality, a special event was hosted to honor body and human organ donors. With the consent of the donors’ families, the deceased were virtually reunited with their loved ones via a big screen in the Chongqing municipal human organ donation memorial park, free of charge.

A Daughter’s Emotional Reunion

For Huang Jingya, the daughter of a local donor named Diao Panya, this Qingming Festival brought a sense of warmth and solace thanks to modern technology. “Her sudden departure left us with eternal regret. I am so grateful to have the opportunity to see my mother again in this way,” Huang said.
