Shanghai is taking significant strides toward the future of telecommunications by unveiling 12 comprehensive action plans aimed at advancing 6G development. The Shanghai Communications Administration announced on Wednesday that the city will intensify research and development of key technologies such as 5G-Advanced and 6G, fostering deeper integration between the information and communication industry and the industrial economy.
The newly released document outlines strategies to expand the application scenarios of 5G and conduct 6G testing across various fields. These initiatives are designed to position Shanghai at the forefront of next-generation communication technologies, driving innovation and economic growth in the region.
By the end of 2023, Shanghai had established an impressive network infrastructure, including 92,000 5G base stations and 423,000 standard server racks for operational data centers. This robust foundation has enabled the incubation of numerous demonstration applications in sectors such as industrial internet, autonomous driving, and smart medical care.
