China’s Tarim Oilfield Boosts Natural Gas Capacity with 14 Ultra-Deep Wells

The Tarim Oilfield, located in the Tarim Basin of northwest China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, has significantly increased its natural gas production by adding 14 ultra-deep gas wells into operation. This expansion is set to provide over one billion cubic meters of natural gas to China’s West-to-East gas pipelines.

The Bozi 25 well, drilled in the South Tianshan Mountains, is now operational and stands as the largest natural gas reserve block in the Bozi-Dabei area. This ultra-deep well has extended the Tarim Oilfield’s gas-bearing zone by 10 kilometers to the east, marking a substantial development in the region’s energy landscape.

As one of China’s major petroliferous basins, the Tarim Oilfield plays a crucial role in meeting the country’s growing energy demands. The new wells not only enhance natural gas supplies but also contribute to the stability and efficiency of the West-to-East Gas Pipeline Project, which is instrumental in distributing energy resources across China.

The advancements in ultra-deep drilling technologies have enabled the Tarim Oilfield to tap into previously unreachable reserves, showcasing China’s commitment to innovation in the energy sector. This development holds significant implications for business professionals, investors, and global energy markets monitoring China’s economic trends and resource management.
