In a significant milestone for Asia’s offshore engineering industry, China has commenced the installation of Haiji-2, the continent’s first deepwater jacket. The installation began on Sunday in Zhuhai City, located in south China’s Guangdong Province, according to reports from China Media Group (CMG).
The Haiji-2 is independently designed and developed by China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC), demonstrating China’s growing capabilities in deepwater oil and gas exploration. The installation process is expected to last three days. Upon completion, the jacket will set multiple Asian records, including those for operating water depth, height, and weight.
The successful installation of Haiji-2 marks a significant advancement in Asia’s offshore technology and is expected to boost the region’s offshore oil and gas production capacity. The project showcases China’s commitment to expanding its energy infrastructure and technological expertise in deepwater operations.
