With the 2026 Asian Beach Games in Sanya just weeks away, organizers have confirmed that 1,790 athletes from 45 Asian countries and regions will compete in the event, set to run from April 22 to 30. Thailand, the Chinese mainland, the Philippines, India, and Hong Kong, China, are fielding the largest delegations, with the Chinese team comprising 174 athletes.
All competition venues and infrastructure, including 22 reception hotels and over 1,021 new energy vehicles, are now fully operational. More than 4,700 volunteers have been mobilized to ensure smooth logistics, while the Main Press Center and International Broadcast Center are ready to support global media coverage.
Zhang Changfeng, deputy secretary general of the Sanya Asian Beach Games Organizing Committee, emphasized the city’s readiness: “We are refining every detail to deliver a high-quality event that showcases Sanya’s coastal charm and the Hainan Free Trade Port’s vitality.”
The Games will feature 14 sports across 15 disciplines, with discounted tickets and themed merchandise now available to the public. Organizers aim to highlight regional cooperation and cultural exchange through the event, reinforcing Asia’s growing influence in global sports.
