Thai Star Un-Nooh Stuns O’Sullivan to Claim World Open Snooker Crown

In a dramatic showdown at snooker's World Open in Yushan, Thailand's Thepchaiya Un-Nooh achieved a career-defining victory on Sunday, overcoming seven-time world champion Ronnie O'Sullivan 10-7. The triumph marks Un-Nooh's second ranking title and positions him as a rising force in the sport.

The Chinese mainland city of Yushan witnessed snooker history as Un-Nooh staged a remarkable comeback after trailing 4-0 early in the best-of-19 final. The Thai player's mid-match resurgence, featuring six consecutive frames and a crucial 147 maximum break in the 16th frame, shifted momentum decisively against the English legend.

O'Sullivan, who turns 51 later this year, demonstrated his enduring prowess with three consecutive century breaks during the match, including a tournament-high 136. However, Un-Nooh's composure under pressure ultimately prevailed, with the 40-year-old securing the final four frames to claim victory.

The World Open continues to solidify China's role as a premier host for international snooker events, with this year's tournament drawing particular attention to Jiangxi Province's growing sports infrastructure. Analysts suggest Un-Nooh's win could spark renewed interest in Southeast Asia's snooker development programs.
