China Secures 10th Gold at 2026 Winter Paralympics in Wheelchair Curling Thriller

China's wheelchair curling duo Wang Meng and Yang Jinqiao claimed a dramatic 9-7 victory over the Republic of Korea's Baek Hye-jin and Lee Yong-suk on Wednesday, securing the mixed doubles gold medal at the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Paralympics. The win marks China's 10th gold of the Games, reinforcing its dominance in Paralympic winter sports.

Wang, a two-time Paralympic champion, delivered a precision shot between two guards in the first end to secure three points, setting the tone for China's early 5-1 lead. Despite a fierce comeback attempt by the ROK pair in the second half—including a three-point steal in the seventh end—the Chinese athletes held their nerve during extra ends to clinch victory.

"We maintained strong focus during the first half," Wang told reporters after the match. "This victory reflects our team's resilience and the continuous development of winter sports in China."

The triumph extends China's wheelchair curling legacy since its historic mixed team gold at the 2018 PyeongChang Paralympics. With this win, China currently ranks second in the overall medal tally at Cortina d'Ampezzo, demonstrating its growing influence in adaptive winter sports.
