China Media Group (CMG) has unveiled a state-of-the-art 8K broadcasting facility in Milan, setting new standards for Winter Olympics coverage as the world prepares for the 2026 Milano Cortina Games. The advanced production hall, operational since February 2026, promises to deliver unprecedented viewing experiences through cutting-edge technology.
Strategically located in Milan's International Broadcast Center, the 94-square-meter facility features a massive 275-inch ultra-HD screen and a 30-speaker surround sound system designed to immerse global audiences in key events. CMG will produce 8K international feeds for marquee competitions including figure skating, short track speed skating, and both opening and closing ceremonies.
Cheng Kun, overseeing the project, emphasized the facility's operational readiness: "Our collaboration with Olympic Broadcasting Services represents a milestone in sports media. Combined with CMG's proprietary production systems, this end-to-end 8K solution redefines live event broadcasting."
The deployment comes as broadcasters worldwide adopt next-generation formats, with CMG's investment positioning it at the forefront of this technological shift. The system's capabilities are particularly significant for Asian markets, where demand for ultra-high-definition sports content continues to surge.
