China Media Group (CMG) has launched its state-of-the-art Livigno broadcasting facility ahead of this year's Winter Olympics, marking a significant leap in sports coverage technology. The studio, operational from February 6, 2026, will provide real-time 4K broadcasts of snowboarding and freestyle skiing events across the Alps.
Engineers overcame extreme mountain conditions using China's first fully domestic 4K EFP system, designed to maintain crystal-clear transmissions even in sub-zero temperatures. The technical achievement highlights Asia's growing leadership in broadcast innovation.
Cultural elements blend with cutting-edge technology through four Zodiac-themed "Bing Dwen Dwen" mascots displayed at the studio. The design narrative connects Beijing's 2022 Winter Olympics legacy with Milan's current hosting role, creating a symbolic bridge between Asian and European winter sports traditions.
