Wang Manyu Defends WTT Finals Crown in Thrilling All-Chinese Showdown

Chinese table tennis star Wang Manyu retained her Women's Singles title at the 2025 WTT Finals in Hong Kong SAR on Sunday, overcoming a spirited challenge from rising compatriot Kuai Man in a six-game thriller that showcased China's continued dominance in the sport.

The world No. 2 demonstrated championship composure despite Kuai's relentless counterattacks, ultimately securing victory 12-10 in the decisive sixth game. The 21-year-old challenger, who became the second-youngest finalist in tournament history, pushed her senior teammate to the limit with bold shot-making that drew gasps from the capacity crowd.

"Her fighting spirit forced me to elevate my game," Wang acknowledged after claiming her eighth WTT Series title. "When she saved those championship points with incredible angles, I had to trust my training and stay completely focused."

The victory caps a strong season for both athletes, with Kuai having reached her first major final at March's Singapore Smash. Their high-quality final – featuring lightning-fast exchanges and dramatic momentum shifts – underscores China's unparalleled depth in women's table tennis as the nation prepares to host next year's World Team Championships in Chengdu.
