Four Chinese athletes made history on Thursday as they participated in the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympics torch relay through Greece. Olympic gymnastics silver medalist Zhang Boheng led the delegation, joined by basketball player Wang Siyu, cross-country runner Wu Yongbo, and rising sprint star Chen Yujie.
The flame, lit Wednesday in Kalavryta, traveled across the Rio–Antirrio Bridge before reaching Patras. Chen's participation comes fresh from her double victory in the 100m and 200m races at China's 15th National Games earlier this month.
"This honor fuels my determination to push boundaries," Zhang told reporters, while Wu expressed hopes for Chinese winter athletes: "May they realize their Olympic dreams in Milan."
The flame will conclude its Greek journey on December 4 before being transferred to Italian organizers, marking the final countdown to the February 6-22, 2026 Winter Games.
