Noah Lyles Matches Bolt’s Record with Fourth 200m Gold at World Championships

American sprinter Noah Lyles cemented his legacy in track history Friday, securing his fourth consecutive 200-meter world title at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo. The 28-year-old dominated the final with a season-best time of 19.52 seconds, edging out teammate Kenny Bednarek (19.58) and Jamaica's Bryan Levell (19.64), who set a personal record for bronze.

Lyles' victory places him alongside Jamaican legend Usain Bolt as the only athletes to achieve four straight 200m world titles. "This is about showing what's possible when you keep raising the bar," Lyles told reporters after the race, acknowledging the significance of matching Bolt's 2009-2015 streak.

The result reinforces the United States' sprint dominance, marking the fifth time American athletes have claimed both gold and silver in the men's 200m at World Championships. The achievement comes as Tokyo continues to build momentum as a global sports hub, having hosted major events like the 2020 Olympics and Paralympics.
