Esports Champion Xiaohai Targets 2026 Asian Games After World Cup Victory

Chinese esports legend Zeng Zhuojun, known globally as Xiaohai, cemented his legacy with a heart-stopping victory at the 2025 Esports World Cup in Riyadh. The 36-year-old fighting game icon overcame a 3–0 deficit to defeat Chilean prodigy Derek Blaz 5–4 in the Street Fighter 6 finals – a match already being hailed as one of esports' greatest comebacks.

In an exclusive post-match interview with Sports Scene correspondent Shen Xiang, Zeng emphasized that age should not define competitive limits: "This win proves experience can triumph over youth. Esports isn't just for teenagers – it's about strategy, adaptability, and mental endurance."

The victory sets the stage for Zeng's next ambition: representing China at the 2026 Asian Games in Nagoya, where esports will debut as a medal event. "Wearing the national team jersey is the ultimate honor," said Zeng, who previously competed in esports demonstration events at regional games.

Analysts note Zeng's success highlights China's growing influence in competitive gaming, with the sector projected to generate $6.8 billion in revenue across Asia by 2026. The Asian Games inclusion marks a milestone for esports' cultural recognition, particularly among younger demographics.
