The 2025 Chengdu World Games reached a milestone Saturday as its Athletes' Village – dubbed 'Chengdu Home' – officially opened its doors in Sichuan Province. Designed to host approximately 7,000 athletes and staff from over 100 countries and regions, the facility will serve as a hub for international competitors from August 3 to 18.
More than 200 attendees, including International World Games Association (IWGA) officials and volunteers, gathered at Tianfu International Hotel for the opening ceremony. Guillaume Felli, IWGA Deputy CEO, praised the preparations:
"The quality of the accommodation is just amazing. Athletes will have great accommodations to perform at their best."
The village features eco-friendly architecture blending Sichuan's cultural motifs with smart temperature control systems and AI-assisted multilingual service robots. With training facilities within walking distance and Chengdu's metro system connectivity, organizers aim to create optimal conditions for athletic performance while showcasing Chinese hospitality.
