Zhang Shuai Exits Wimbledon Mixed Doubles in Semifinal Thriller

China's Zhang Shuai and Salvadorian partner Marcelo Arevalo saw their Wimbledon journey end in a hard-fought semifinal clash on Tuesday, falling 7-6(5), 6-3 to British-Brazilian duo Joe Salisbury and Luisa Stefani. The match marked Zhang's second career Wimbledon semifinal appearance.

The first set saw tense exchanges, with Zhang and Arevalo initially leading the tiebreak before Salisbury's crucial interventions shifted momentum. The pair struggled to recover in the second set, conceding three consecutive points that sealed their exit.

"This Wimbledon has been truly special," Zhang told reporters. "From singles qualification to a women's doubles third round and now mixed semifinals after Roland Garros – we gave our all. I leave with no regrets."

The result concludes a strong grass-court season for Zhang, who becomes the first Chinese mainland player to reach multiple Wimbledon mixed doubles semifinals. Salisbury and Stefani will face Katerina Siniakova and Sem Verbeek in Wednesday's final.
