China Secures Back-to-Back Wins in FIVB Men’s Nations League Against Netherlands

China's men's volleyball team delivered a thrilling performance in Xi'an on Saturday, defeating the Netherlands 3-1 to claim their second consecutive victory in the FIVB Men's Nations League. The match marked a historic turnaround for the 20th-ranked Chinese squad, which had previously lost all encounters against the 14th-ranked Dutch team.

The hosts capitalized on precise serves and minimal errors in the first two sets, winning 25-19 and 25-20. Despite a dominant 25-13 third-set response from the Netherlands, China rallied in the fourth set with Li Yongzhen's decisive blocks sealing a 25-17 victory. The win elevates China's world ranking to 18th, signaling growing momentum in international competition.

"Our blocking and defense improved dramatically when it mattered most," said China coach Vital Heynen, reflecting on the team's tactical adjustments. Middle blocker Li Yongzhen, who scored 13 points, emphasized collective effort: "This victory shows our unity. We fought for every point, regardless of the score."

The Netherlands' coach Joel Banks acknowledged challenges with post-midnight recovery after their previous match against Türkiye. China now prepares to face Türkiye on Sunday, while the Netherlands will meet Japan in the next round.
