Scheffler Defends Memorial Title, Matches Tiger Woods’ Feat

World No. 1 golfer Scottie Scheffler cemented his dominance on the PGA Tour with a historic victory at the Memorial Tournament on Sunday, becoming only the second player after Tiger Woods to successfully defend the title at Jack Nicklaus’ prestigious event.

The 28-year-old American carded a final-round 70 to finish at 10-under-par 278, four strokes clear of compatriot Ben Griffin. The win marks Scheffler's third triumph in four weeks and extends his remarkable streak of converting 54-hole leads to nine consecutive victories.

"Battling through this course and the pressure makes this special," Scheffler said after receiving the trophy from tournament host Nicklaus. "Having Mr. Nicklaus’ approval means everything."

Scheffler’s latest achievement adds to an extraordinary season that includes May’s PGA Championship victory. His rapid ascent now places him fourth in all-time fastest progression to 16 PGA Tour wins, trailing only legends Sam Snead, Nicklaus, and Woods.

With momentum building, all eyes now turn to the US Open at Oakmont where Scheffler aims to claim back-to-back majors. The Memorial victory reinforces his status as golf’s most formidable competitor, combining technical precision with unmatched mental resilience.
