China Dominates Artistic Swimming World Cup with 2 Gold Medals

China solidified its presence in artistic swimming with a stellar performance on Day 2 of the World Aquatics Artistic Swimming World Cup in Markham, Canada, securing two gold medals and one bronze. The victories highlight the country's growing dominance in the sport, blending athletic prowess and cultural flair.

Nineteen-year-old Xu Huiyan emerged as a standout, capturing her second gold medal of the event in the women’s solo free final. Xu’s score of 218.8438 points surpassed Georgia’s Mari Alavidze by an 18-point margin, cementing her status as a rising star. Earlier on Thursday, she claimed the solo technical title, underscoring her versatility.

Sixteen-year-old Guo Muye delivered a historic performance in the men’s solo free final, earning China its second gold of the day. His routine, choreographed to traditional Chinese music, impressed judges with a score of 192.7988 points. Guo, the youngest finalist, outperformed competitors from Mexico and Britain, showcasing the depth of China’s young talent pool.

Twin sisters Lin Yanhan and Lin Yanjun added a bronze in the women’s duet technical final, scoring 279.5150 points. The podium was led by Austria’s Alexandri sisters and Spain’s Ferre Gaset and Lluis Valette, reflecting the global appeal of artistic swimming.
