Chinese Star Zhao Xintong Secures Maiden World Snooker Quarterfinal Berth

China's Zhao Xintong made history on Sunday by advancing to his first World Snooker Championship quarterfinals after a gripping 13-10 victory over compatriot Lei Peifan in Sheffield. The 25-year-old held firm against Lei's late three-frame rally, sealing the win with a decisive 62-point break in the 23rd frame.

Zhao’s triumph sets up a last-eight clash with English qualifier Chris Wakelin, marking a breakthrough moment for the rising Chinese star. Earlier in the tournament, Lei had stunned defending champion Kyren Wilson in the first round.

Elsewhere, world No. 1 Judd Trump achieved a historic milestone by scoring his 100th century break of the season during a dominant 10-6 lead over Shaun Murphy. Trump’s 132 clearance in Frame 14 drew a rare mid-frame standing ovation, solidifying his reputation as one of snooker’s most explosive players.

Chinese talent continued to shine as 21-year-old Si Jiahui took a 9-7 advantage over Ben Woollaston, while veteran Ding Junhui fought bravely despite trailing Belgium’s Luca Brecel 12-4. Seven-time champion Ronnie O’Sullivan also edged closer to progression, holding a commanding 12-4 lead over China’s Pang Junxu ahead of Monday’s finale.
