China Dominates WTT Champions Incheon Singles Semifinals

Chinese athletes showcased their table tennis prowess at the 2025 WTT Champions Incheon in South Korea on Saturday, securing three of four semifinal spots across men's and women's singles events. The strong showing reinforces China's reputation as a powerhouse in the sport.

Wang Yidi, China's top-seeded women's singles player, triumphed 4-1 over South Korea's Shin Yu-bin, setting up a semifinal clash against Zhu Yuling from China's Macao region. Wang acknowledged the challenge ahead: "Zhu is in excellent form. I'll prepare thoroughly and embrace the intensity."

Fourth-ranked Chen Xingtong joined Wang in the women's semifinals after defeating Japan's Mima Ito 4-2, while 21-year-old Xiang Peng delivered a standout performance in men's singles. The rising star overcame Brazil's Hugo Calderano through tactical adjustments and mental fortitude. "Understanding Calderano's spin patterns proved crucial," Xiang noted, emphasizing his enthusiasm for competitive challenges.

Sunday's semifinals will see Chinese athletes compete against opponents from Japan and the Macao region, with global table tennis fans anticipating high-stakes matches featuring world-class technical exchanges.
