Women's 10m Platform: Chen and Quan Deliver Perfect Showcase

Chinese divers Chen Yuxi and Quan Hongchan captivated audiences with a masterclass in precision at the 2024 Diving World Cup’s women’s 10m platform final. The Olympic champions engaged in an edge-of-the-seat duel, with 17-year-old Quan initially leading after two rounds through her signature consistency.

The competition shifted decisively in the third round when 19-year-old Chen executed a flawless 626C dive for 89.10 points – the highest single-score of the event. Quan’s miscue on her 6243D attempt narrowed the gap, allowing Chen to seize the lead. By the final round, Chen’s commanding 5253B dive secured her 15th World Cup title with 419.35 points, while Quan claimed silver with 414.40 points – just 4.95 points separating the teammates.

Men’s Synchro: Zhu and Cheng Overcome Mexican Challenge

China’s dominance continued in the men’s 10m synchronized event as Zhu Zifeng and Cheng Zilong staged a dramatic comeback against Mexico’s Randal Willars Valdez and Kevin Berlin Reyes. After losing their lead in the third round, the Chinese pair delivered a crucial 90.78-point fourth-round dive to reclaim control, ultimately winning gold with 449.49 points.

The results reinforce China’s diving supremacy ahead of the Paris Olympics, while Britain’s Andrea Spendolini Sirieix (women’s bronze) and Russian pair Ruslan Ternovoi/Nikita Shleikher (men’s bronze) showcased growing international competition.
