Chinese Athletes Dominate Aerials Finals at FIS World Championships

Six Chinese athletes secured their spots in the aerials finals at the FIS Snowboard, Freestyle, and Freeski World Championships in Switzerland on Saturday, showcasing strong performances amid intense competition. With precise execution and strategic risk-taking, the athletes demonstrated China’s growing prowess in winter sports.

In the women’s qualifiers, Xu Mengtao and Chen Xuezhen impressed judges with back double Full-Full jumps at 3.525 difficulty. Xu claimed second place with 90.24 points, while Chen ranked sixth with 82.83 points. Teammate Shao Qi earned third place in her qualifying round with an 85.99-point performance. Meanwhile, Chen Meiting staged a dramatic recovery after a shaky first-round landing, advancing with a daring back flip triple Full (4.050 difficulty) in the second round.

On the men’s side, Wang Xindi and Sun Jiaxu advanced despite fierce competition. Wang earned 116.37 points with a near-flawless back layout double Full-Full (4.425 difficulty), placing third. Sun qualified with 111.95 points, while Olympic champion Qi Guangpu and Li Tianma faced elimination after technical missteps.

The finals, set to take place later this week, will feature a strong Chinese contingent as the team aims for podium finishes in freestyle skiing’s high-stakes aerial events.
