Shanghai Port and Shandong Taishan Kick Off CSL Season with Convincing Wins

In a strong display of form, defending champions Shanghai Port secured a 2-0 victory against Changchun Yatai on Friday, marking back-to-back wins to commence their title defense in the Chinese Super League (CSL).

The match, held at Shanghai Port's home ground, saw Yatai manager Xie Hui, who previously served as assistant coach at Shanghai Port, witness his team create several counterattacking chances. However, these opportunities remained unconverted as the first half ended goalless.

The deadlock was finally broken in the 54th minute when Leonardo's powerful strike hit the post, allowing Feng Jin to capitalize on the rebound and score the opening goal. Eight minutes into stoppage time, Brazilian striker Leonardo secured his first goal for Shanghai Port, taking advantage of Yatai's defensive overcommitment to seal the victory.

With this result, Shanghai Port sits atop the league table with maximum points, while Changchun Yatai remain winless after two rounds.

Meanwhile, Shandong Taishan achieved their first win of the campaign with an emphatic 4-1 triumph over newly promoted Dalian Yingbo at home.

The match began with Crysan opening the scoring in the 12th minute with a curling shot. Dalian's Brazilian striker Fernando Karanga equalized by nodding in Mao Weijie's precise cross, reuniting him with his former club. The visitors' hopes were dashed when Karanga received a straight red card following a VAR review for a reckless aerial challenge on Lucas Gazai.

Shandong Taishan regained control of the game through Zeca's composed finish after Crysan's midfield surge. The lead was further extended by Guiherme Madruga's late header and Xie Wenneng's injury-time goal, completing a comprehensive 4-1 victory. This win propels Shandong Taishan to second place in the table, while Dalian Yingbo continues to struggle defensively, having conceded five goals in two matches.
