Federico Valverde opened the scoring early on, volleying home at the back post to set the tone for the match. Eduardo Camavinga doubled the lead just 13 minutes in with a powerful header, asserting Los Blancos’ dominance.
Young talent Arda Guler extended the lead before halftime, cutting in from the right and finding the net with the aid of a deflection. The Turkish playmaker later capped off the night with his second goal, tapping in from close range after Fran Garcia teed him up.
Veteran midfielder Luka Modric added to the tally in the second half, curling in a neat effort to make it 4-0. Real Madrid’s control of the game allowed coach Carlo Ancelotti to rest key players ahead of the upcoming Spanish Super Cup in Saudi Arabia, with stars Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Junior appearing only as second-half substitutes.
Brahim Diaz nearly added to the scoreline, hitting the post early in the second half, while young Brazilian Endrick came close to netting as well. The victory secures Real Madrid’s place in the next round, with the draw scheduled for Wednesday and fixtures to take place between January 14-16.
Over the weekend, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid also secured their spots in the last 16, while holders Athletic Bilbao narrowly advanced on penalties against third-tier Logrones.
