China’s Future Generation Shines at 2024 Paris Olympics

The 2024 Paris Olympic Games have seen an impressive surge of youth engagement, with China’s future generations making a significant impact on the world’s biggest sporting stage.

Chinese breaker Liu Qingyi, also known as B-Girl 671, made her Olympic debut in Paris, as breaking made its first appearance in the competition. The 19-year-old showcased her remarkable talent, advancing to the semifinals where she faced Dominika Banevic of Lithuania. Although she narrowly missed the finals, Liu outperformed India Sardjoe of the Netherlands to secure a historic bronze medal for China.

At Place de la Concorde, China’s Deng Yawen delivered a stunning performance in the women’s BMX freestyle competition. The 19-year-old cyclist clinched the gold medal with a brilliant run that captivated audiences worldwide. Following her victory, Deng humbly remarked, “I was lucky to win,” reflecting her modesty and dedication to the sport.

China also made breakthroughs in speed climbing, with 22-year-old Wu Peng earning a silver medal in the men’s event. The Hunan native clocked an impressive 4.77 seconds in the final, just 0.02 seconds behind Indonesia’s Veddriq Leonardo, who secured the gold and Indonesia’s first medal in Paris.

In women’s skateboarding, 15-year-old Cui Chenxi achieved China’s best result in the event by finishing in fourth place. Her remarkable performance at such a young age signals a bright future for Chinese skateboarding on the international stage.
