Arsenal forward Bukayo Saka is set to miss several weeks of action after suffering a hamstring injury during the Gunners’ emphatic 5-1 Premier League victory over Crystal Palace on Saturday, manager Mikel Arteta has confirmed.
The 23-year-old England international was forced off the pitch in the 22nd minute of the match at Selhurst Park, later leaving the stadium on crutches. His absence is a significant blow for Arsenal, who currently sit third in the league standings.
“Bukayo will be out for many weeks,” Arteta told reporters. “It’s unfortunate, but we have to manage without him. We’re hopeful he’ll recover before the season concludes.”
Saka has been instrumental for Arsenal this season, recording five goals and ten assists in the league. His creativity and versatility have been key factors in the team’s strong performances.
The winger will miss Friday’s home game against Ipswich Town at the Emirates Stadium, along with several other fixtures. Arteta acknowledged the challenge of replacing Saka but expressed confidence in his squad’s depth.
“Injuries are part of the game, and it’s a cumulative effect of many factors, including the number of matches he’s played,” Arteta explained. “We have players ready to step up and fill the void.”
Saka’s injury is a recurrence of an issue that sidelined him in October and November. During that period, he missed three UEFA Nations League matches for England, Arsenal’s league defeat at Bournemouth, and a Champions League win over Shakhtar Donetsk due to the same leg injury.
Arsenal fans and teammates alike will be hoping for a swift recovery for Saka, whose presence on the field has been a source of inspiration throughout the season.
