Hangzhou, China — Italian volleyball powerhouse Imoco Volley Conegliano secured a decisive victory over Tianjin Bohai Bank, winning 25-21, 25-15, 25-20 to claim the FIVB Club World Championship trophy without dropping a single set.
This triumph marks Conegliano’s third world title in just four appearances at the prestigious competition. For Tianjin, the runner-up finish represents the best performance by a Chinese team in the history of the event, highlighting the rising prominence of Chinese women’s volleyball on the global stage.
Tianjin led midway through the first set but couldn’t sustain the momentum, ultimately losing 25-21. In the second set, Conegliano’s powerful jump serves proved challenging for Tianjin, leading to a swift 25-15 defeat. The Italian team maintained their dominance in the third set, sealing the championship with a 25-20 victory.
Swedish star Isabelle Haak, Conegliano’s formidable opposite hitter, was named the Most Valuable Player of the tournament. The 25-year-old spearheaded a lineup of seven outstanding players honored as part of the tournament’s “Dream Team.” Chinese star spiker Zhu Ting and Tianjin captain Li Yingying, who scored 12 points in the final, were both named “Best Outside Hitters,” recognizing their exceptional performances throughout the competition.
“No matter which side wins, this final was a fantastic match. I think everyone did a great job. Of course, I’m happy that our Chinese team has improved so much and played an impressive match. Although the result determined the champions, I think everyone is a winner,” said Zhu Ting, reflecting on the hard-fought final.
