Thursday marked the 50-day countdown to the 2025 Harbin Asian Winter Games, and the capital of northeast China’s Heilongjiang Province is buzzing with excitement. As preparations enter their final stages, the city’s streets are adorned with vibrant displays celebrating the ninth edition of the continental event.
At Harbin’s airport, railway station, and the iconic Central Street, the official mascots “Binbin” and “Nini” have become must-visit photo spots. Both local residents and tourists are snapping pictures with the cheerful characters, adding to the festive atmosphere that permeates the city.
The urban landscape has transformed, with emblems, slogans, and banners of the Asian Winter Games prominently displayed along major roads. Visitors and locals alike are immersed in the spirit of the Games, as more than 9,000 pairs of flag poles have been installed across 94 main streets. The organizers are also planning to set up 60 ice lantern exhibits throughout the city during the winter season, showcasing Harbin’s renowned ice culture.
Merchandise sales for the Games are soaring, with 1,845 officially licensed products developed across 18 categories. Sales have already exceeded 300 million yuan, reflecting widespread enthusiasm and support for the event.
With the Games scheduled to take place from February 7 to February 14, 2025, Harbin is set to welcome athletes and visitors from across Asia.
